LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A highway construction firm is continuing to press for a $6.5 million settlement with the state for cost overruns for a stretch it built on Interstate 30 near Little Rock.
Duit Construction Co. of Little Rock argued Tuesday before a legislative panel that the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department didn't provide proper information in bid documents about soil quality on the four-mile stretch in Pulaski and Saline counties.
The state Claims Commission earlier denied the request but legislators sent the case back and asked the panel to address certain issues in the claim. Officials say the hearing will likely be conducted this summer.
The highway department says it met its terms of two contracts with Duit, totaling $63 million. The company says it lost millions on the 2005 job.
