Teen in custody after gun found at school | News

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Police have a teen in custody after a gun was found at the Metro-Votech campus on Scott Hamilton.

Little Rock police say they were called to the campus after school security reported that they found a gun in a locker and were holding two teens. Police say the gun is a chrome E.I.G. .22 caliber revolver with one live round in the wheel of the gun.

Police says a teacher saw the suspect, a 16-year-old student, approach a friend who was at their locker and put something with a chrome reflection and an outline of what appeared to be a gun. The teacher notified security who opened the locker and found the gun inside wrapped in a red bandana.

The friend tells police he only knew the suspect at school and the suspect asked if he could put something in his locker and he agreed, but didn't know what it was. Their names are withheld because they are minors.

The suspect didn't talk to police at the school and he and his mother were taken to the police department downtown. The teen is charged with possession of a firearm on school grounds.
