UAMS Chancellor talks Affordable Care Act with legislators | News

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - UAMS could save millions through Medicaid expansion. Chancellor of the hospital, Dr. Dan Rahn, met with the house public health committee to discuss the future with the Affordable Care Act.

Many Arkansas legislators are playing the wait and see game with the Affordable Health Care Act. Chair of the House Public Health Committee, Dan Burris, told THV 11 he's inclined to see how other states implement health policy before bring significant state reform.

Dr. Rahn told the house public health committee expansion will substantially reduce their costs.

"Our reduction in uninsured care costs would go from 66 million to 38 million if the state expanded Medicaid. That's not the bad debt part of it, which is the part that people are supposed to pay, but they just don't seem to have the where with all to pay," said Rahn.
