LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- The Central Arkansas Transit is proposing a 10.6 percent increase in funding for the next budget year. The main reason? Greater coverage.

"Although the 10.6 percent increase seems high, the driving force behind that is two new routes," says executive director Betty Wineland.

The budget proposal also lists additional costs such as increments in health and bus insurance, as well as three new positions due to the new routes. Little Rock, North Little Rock, Sherwood, Maumelle, and Pulaski County all give funding to the transit based on miles served.
