LR senior receives surprise scholarship | News

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - A senior at Little Rock Central High was surprised Thursday with a full tuition scholarship at Lyon College in Batesville.

Julie Marcks said she was called to the counselors office over the intercom, and when she got there, she was surprised to see her mother and two representatives of the school.

She was even more surprised to see an oversized check for the amount of money to cover four years of school.

She said she already knows what she plans to study.

"I know I want to do something in the healthcare field, so probably I'll major in biology and minor in Spanish. I really like foreign languages so," said Marcks.

Marcks said she was hoping for a partial scholarship, but never believed she would receive a full ride through college.
