LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- A vehicle has crashed into the Weekend Theater in downtown Little Rock and emergency vehicles are on scene.
The crash happened between 4:30 and 5 p.m. Wednesday. According to the tow truck driver on scene, it was a hit-and-run accident in which a vehicle struck another vehicle, sending it into the theater's entrance.
The tow truck driver says fire department personell from the station across from Vino's on 7th Street were able to get the license plate number from the fleeing vehicle. Additionally, the tow truck driver told THV 11 News that the person driving the vehicle which crashed into the building was not injured.
Weekend Theater staff volunteer Libby A. Smith sent this statement to THV 11:
Late this afternoon, Wednesday, November 7, a vehicle went through a wall on 7th Street and into The Weekend Theater auditorium damaging the wall and a section of seating risers. As of this writing, we are uncertain as to the status of this weekend's production of "Raft of the Medusa" as well as auditions for "Company." We realize it will be too late to get notification of schedule changes in print but if changes are needed, we will issue a press release and announce the adjustments through social media and on our website.
From what we hear, the driver of the car was not seriously injured. A person in the theater's lobby was unharmed.
