4 arrested at Occupy Little Rock site

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Little Rock police have blocked Ferry Street and Capital Avenue around the Occupy Little Rock site. They have also roped off the parking lot.

Authorities say Jennifer Pierce, Amy Cicirello, Glen Miller, and Occupy spokesperson Greg Deckleman have been arrested for disorderly conduct.  They were taken into custody on scene.

Occupy Little Rock protesters say they'll end their seven-month run when the city enforces its deadline for the group to clear out of its Little Rock site.

But the city-imposed 7 a.m. Wednesday deadline came and went without any arrests.

Little Rock police Lt. Terry Hastings wouldn't comment on the police's plans to arrest the protesters, only saying that Wednesday was the deadline for the group to move from its site near the downtown Little Rock post office.

Goose leg tangled in fishing line at MacArthur Park

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Working off of a tip from a viewer, Today's THV is working with wildlife authorities to remove a fishing line from the leg of a goose at MacArthur Park.

Park visitors tell THV's Meredith Mitchell that the bird's foot has been wrapped in discarded fishing line for several weeks now.

Knowing we would need expert help, THV contacted Arkansas Game and Fish who sent wildlife biologists to help with the capture.

By the time biologist David Goad arrived on scene, the goose had taken to the water.  Using bread as a lure, he and a few park regulars tried luring the goose on shore, but the injured waterfowl kept its distance.

Goad waited patiently for an opportunity to capture the goose, but he says she appeared aware of the situation.

LRPD investigating bank robbery at Broadway, 8th St.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Little Rock police are investigating a bank robbery on Broadway and 8th Street.

Authorities say it happened at Centennial Bank around 1:50 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. Witnesses describe the suspect as a black male, wearing a brown towel over his head, a green shirt, and a red ball cap.

According to authorities, the suspect indicated that he was armed with a gun, but he did not show the teller. He left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money, fleeing on foot.

There were three employees at the bank at the time, and all are unharmed, police say.

Authorities say they have one individual in custody being questioned, but they do not know at this time if he is the one who committed the bank robbery or not.

LR Family: Fun ideas for everyone

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Here are some fun ideas from Little Rock Family.

Dino Dash and Discovery Fest at Museum of Discovery, Saturday, May 19

Luckily, you won't have to outrun any prehistoric predators at the Museum of Discovery's annual Dino Dash. But you will have to be speedy if you want to be the first to arrive at the post-event street festival near the museum.

Families will run in a 5K or participate in the 1K fun run/walk to help support the science and technology center; 100 percent of the registration fees and proceeds from the festival go to benefit the Museum of Discovery's statewide educational programs. Even those who don't run can enjoy the free Discovery Fest from 7:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Families can watch science demonstrations, have their faces painted, play games, make crafts and more.

2 kids bring gun to school

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Little Rock police say two young students brought a gun to school.

Lt. Terry Hastings says a third grader and a fifth grader brought the gun to Watson Elementary and brought it out on the bus and another student saw it and told a teacher.

The gun had a LRPD badge on the gun. The two students' grandfather is a police officer. The weapon is a buyback weapon. The boys found it at their grandfather's house.

The gun was not loaded and police say the grandfather did nothing wrong.

The fifth grader will likely be charged with having a gun at school but the third grader is too young to face charges.

Occupy Little Rock protestors prepare for arrest

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - It is a movement that landed in several cities across the nation including here in Little Rock. But at 7:00 a.m. Wednesday, the site known as Occupy Little Rock will be taken back by the city.

The parking lot at 4th and Ferry streets has been utilized as a camp for the protestors but city officials say the lot is needed for Riverfest and other summer activities. Occupy Little Rock has less than nine hours to vacate the premises.

What began at the Clinton Library last fall, will end at the corner of 4th and Ferry streets in Little Rock.

"Our rights to protest and our rights to regress grievances and our rights for freedom of assembly and freedom of speech, no one can accommodate those. Those are guaranteed under the Constitution of the United States," says Occupy Little Rock spokesperson Greg Deckelman.
