Special Needs Event - Night Lights: Parents Night Out

AUTISM SUPPORT SERVICES LLC. Presents:

Night Lights:  A monthly Parents Night Out Program for children ages 12 years and under with Autism, Asperger's or PDD and their siblings. They provide one on one care with over 50 trained volunteers. This is held the second Friday of the month.

Date: Friday May 11, 2012

Time: 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Where: Indian Hills Church, 6801 JFK Blvd. NLR, AR 72116

Activities: Arts/Crafts, Music, Recreational, Movies.

The cost is $10 per child for the entire evening. If you’d like to attend, please RSVP one week before each event.

Junior League, UALR Children International host Family Fun April 28

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (April 19, 2012) – UALR Children International, in partnership with the Junior League of Little Rock, will be hosting Family Fun Day for sponsored children and their families from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at the UALR Jack Stephens Center.

“We are expecting Family Fun Day to be bigger than ever this year,” said UALR Children International Director Kyle Miller. “This is our main event where we get to say ‘thank you’ to our sponsored children, youth, and their parents for helping us make our agency a success.”

The event will include a musical performance by Kinder Songs, car seat safety tips for parents, and Touch-A-Truck, a unique interactive activity that allows children to climb on, explore, and discover their favorite big trucks and vehicles.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Saturday, April 7 was all about K.I.D.S. at the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center. Kids Involved in Dynamic Service, also known as K.I.D.S. Volunteer Day, is a quarterly program that provides an opportunity for youth between ages 8 and 13 to give back to their community. Keeping up with the change in seasons, the children decorated flower pots for senior citizens for the April service project.

 “Kids Involved in Dynamic Service is an amazing opportunity to show younger children how they can positively impact the world around them,” said Elvon Reed, director of education for the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center.

CONWAY, Ark. (AETN) — Fans of the Arkansas Educational Television Network’s (AETN) “Exploring Arkansas,” with host Chuck Dovish, now have the opportunity to win a family outing with Dovish that will be filmed for possible future use in the series.

A winning family (up to six family members) will be chosen at random to spend a day with Dovish as he tapes a family-friendly episode of “Exploring Arkansas.” Dovish will aim to introduce the family to some of his favorite places and activities suitable for all ages, in turn allowing them to explore Arkansas with him.

Contest winners will be treated to a hike or similar activity at a location of Dovish’s choosing on a weekend. The outing will be filmed by an AETN production crew and segments may be used for an upcoming episode of “Exploring Arkansas.”

‘Dinosaur Train’ screenings, photos open to kids for spring break

CONWAY, Ark. (AETN) — The Arkansas Educational Television Network (AETN) has partnered with the Museum of Discovery to bring Buddy the T. Rex from PBS KIDS’ hit series “Dinosaur Train” to the museum during spring break. Families are invited to meet Buddy Tuesday, March 20, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Buddy will arrive at the museum, 500 President Clinton Avenue, courtesy of the Arkansas Trolley Company at 9 a.m. He’ll be making appearances throughout the day for photos, and “Dinosaur Train” episodes will be playing in the museum theater.

The museum will be open its normal business hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and admission will only be charged to visitors going beyond the lobby. General admission is $10 for ages 12 and up, $8 for ages 1 to 11, and free for members and children under 1.
