Dreamland Ballroom to host May 1 Book Signing and Brick Dedication

The Dreamland Ballroom and Taborian Hall, home of Arkansas Flag and Banner, will open its doors to the public on May 1 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm for a Book Signing and Brick Dedication event. 

In honor of all who have donated bricks over the past 5 years, Friends of Dreamland Ballroom will welcome The Very Reverend Jonathon Jensen from Trinity Cathedral to bless the bricks that will pave the way to the future building addition and entrance.

UniverSoul Circus has created a big top thrill-ride infused with an unparalleled global mix of circus artistry, music, dance and style – all inspired by reflections of today’s global culture. The 2013 edition of UniverSoul Circus the MASH IT UP tour – featuring seven beautiful bone-bending contortionists from Ethiopia, a dazzling ice skating act from right here in the USA, and a powerful pole act from Cuba – will be performing in Little Rock at the Arkansas State Fairgrounds May 8-12, 2013.

For the past five years, UniverSoul Circus has ranked in the top ten of Ticketmaster’s Top 25 which ranks the Top 25 Most Requested Family Events in the U.S. by fan-search requests and online event page views.

Central Arkansas Heart Walk April 20 encourages physical activity, supports American Heart Association

LITTLE ROCK – The annual 5K non-competitive Central Arkansas Heart Walk is designed to bring public awareness to physical activity and a heart-healthy lifestyle, while raising the critical dollars needed to fund heart disease and stroke research and educational programs in the region. Teams are made up of employees from local companies, along with friends and family members of all ages. This year’s event is supported by more than 300 local teams that will help the American Heart Association reach the $350,000 goal.

The Governor’s Culinary Challenge, a part of the Arkansas Culinary Federation's Central Region Conference, is proud to support the efforts of the Thea Foundation with a special event that promises to be one of the culinary highlights of the year. Proceeds raised from the Governor’s Culinary Challenge will benefit the Thea Foundation Scholarship Program, which in its history has made available more than 2.2 million dollars to Arkansas high school seniors seeking a higher education.

Make plans for an afternoon of food, fun and live music when Cooks Tour of Argenta: Jazz Brunch comes to the Argenta Arts District, downtown North Little Rock. The event, set for 11 a.m.-2 p.m. April 14 in the 400 block of Main Street, benefits the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute Auxiliary at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).

Pulaski Academy "Cuts Loose" With Its Production of "Footloose"

Pulaski Academy's drama and choral departments, led by Hollie Shepherd and Katherine Dudley, will present Footloose this week at the Conner Performing Arts Center on the PA campus.  

Senior Jordan Crites and Junior Bridget Davis lead this all star cast, which will include special appearances by a future Razorback and the best high school football coach in the State of Arkansas!

Artists from across Arkansas will display and sell their works from 9am to 5pm on Saturday, April 27, along Main Street in the Argenta Arts District of downtown North Little Rock at the second annual Thea Arts Festival. While the Festival itself is open and free to the public, money raised through sponsorship of the festival will help support the arts in schools across Arkansas.
