BACKGROUND: More than 1,800 children will earn their finisher’s medals at the Little Rockers Kids Marathon, presented by Arkansas Children’s Hospital and Today’s THV, on March 3, 2012.
In advance of the March 3 race, Little Rock Parks & Recreation’s Therapeutic Recreation Division has been training more than 60 special needs students for the Little Rockers Kids Marathon. Since September, these students have been building up (an average of 4 miles a week) and will complete their final mile on the McClellan High School Track. These students in the Community Based Instruction (CBI) program at these schools learn a wide range of living skills to help them reach independence within the community as an adult.
