HRC 'Road to Equality' Tour Comes to Arkansas | Community Spirit
The Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization, will be holding a press conference on Saturday, September 17 in Little Rock at the Central Arkansas Library. Arkansas is the ninth stop on HRC’s “On the Road to Equality,” a nationwide bus tour to spread the message of equality. The tour spans the country educating the American public and empowering LGBT people to become advocates for themselves and their families.

WHAT: Remarks by Randi Romo, Eric McDaniel, and Marty Rouse to discuss gay equality in Arkansas. The press conference will be held at an open house, which will feature an exhibit offering primers on everyday life topics including: your family, your health, your rights, your community, your faith, your workplace and your story.

“Across the country, hearts and minds are changing in favor of LGBT equality – we’ve seen this on issues from marriage equality to the repeal of ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’,” said HRC President Joe Solmonese. “Arkansans are no different – our stop in Little Rock will help elevate important efforts already under way.”
In Arkansas, it’s legal to fire someone solely for being gay. And there are no laws explicitly addressing hate crimes directed at gay, lesbian, or transgender people.
