Judged by college-level faculty and/or practicing professionals, Thea’s scholarship competitions are unique in that they are remarkably inclusive. They are open to students who attend public, private, charter, and home schools and those who have completed their GED. Students are not required to provide their GPAs or test scores, or intent to major in the arts.
Furthermore, the Thea Foundation has partnered with over twenty institutions of higher education that commit to match or even exceed our scholarship funds should a recipient choose to attend one of the schools. On average, for every dollar Thea awards in scholarships, an Education Partner matches at three dollars. For a listing of these Education Partners, visit www.theafoundation.org/education-partners.
The Thea Foundation has been awarding scholarships to high school seniors across the state of Arkansas since 2002. In ten years, Thea has distributed $1.5 million in scholarships to 197 students gifted in the arts. Our scholarship program’s framework is designed completely around one simple but poignant motivation: to reward hardworking students and to inspire them to be confident and ambitious.
