Construction woes on I-430/630 Interchange

LITTLE  ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- People have been asking why all the construction at the I-430/630 interchange and how long will it take?

Many drivers that go through the construction everyday want to know the answers to those very questions.

With almost a 100,000 drivers traveling that interchange every year, the construction affects many of us.

At least 2 years, over 300 man hours and dozens of lane closures. That's what crews say drivers have to look forward to -- before the 430-630 interchange is complete.

Construction crews are out in full force, moving dirt, cutting metal
and constructing what will be the 430-630 interchange. The project has 11 stages--workers have finished the first 2 and now are working on stage 3.

"People will just have to bare with us as it's going to get worse before it gets better," says Mark Headley, an engineer wi the state highway department.

Pleasant Ridge Postal Station to close

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - As a result of a recent study, the U.S. Postal Service has decided to close the Pleasant Ridge Station at 11619 Pleasant Ridge Road.

"Given the extraordinary decline in mail volume, a decline of nearly 26 billion pieces this past year alone, we must take action to reduce the size of our retail and delivery network," said John Tolliver, Little Rock Postmaster. "By consolidating, streamlining and adjusting our operations, the Postal Service becomes a more efficient and effective organization."

Pleasant Ridge will close on March 26, 2011. Affected postal employees will be reassigned in accordance with applicable collective bargaining agreements and established repositioning processes.

Pleasant Ridge PO Box customers will retain their current PO Box number and ZIP Code, but the physical location of the PO Box will be moved to the Westside Station at 11415 Huron Lane.
