Snagging a seat and a iiece of history

LITTLE ROCK, Ark (KTHV)--The gates of Ray Winder Field in Little Rock were flooded with eager baseball fans and sports enthusiasts wanting a piece of the park.

The ball field has been out of commission for years now, but remains a favorite memory for people remember seeing the Arkansas Travelers play there for several years since it was built in 1931.

People lined up as early as Friday evening to get a good place in line in hopes they would be able to walk away with a set of seats Saturday morning.

Chris Larmoyeux drove from Searcy and got to the stadium at 6:30 a.m. "I'm happy to have a seat! Apparently, they went really fast and so there were just pieces of stuff all over the place and so I just got what I could.  These were some of the last seats standing and so I just thought I'll take what I can get!"

Get your own piece of history

Little Rock, Ark. (KTHV) -- Fans can come by and claim seats from Ray Winder Field, today, Saturday.

Before it meets its fate, we invited Bill Valentine who roamed these aisles for over 30 years as GM, to share his memories. It didn't take him long.

He immediately began looking for the seat with a bullet hole.

"Police had chased a fugitive through the empty ballpark on a day the Travs were out of town. The police fired a warning shot," Valentine remembers.

And Bill then told us about longtime organist Alfreda Wilson, then went further back.

And so the stories went until Bill suddenly discovered seats under the old bleachers. They were portable seats given to valentine by a rodeo promoter. He had forgotten they were there

"I'd forgotten all about [them]. And forgotten about it," Valentine recalls.

Today's Box Office: 'Bridesmaids' is so funny I snorted

Even when comedy is vulgar, foul, and gross we can still laugh at it when its' well written, has a relatable story, and characters that you actually like. Bridesmaids sticks well to the formula as a vulgar, gross, well-written, romantic comedy.
